Oh Hell Another Update!

Zoel waist

Oh Hell I’m finally taking a break from the conventions but as the Terminator said… “I’ll be Bach.” Yeah, I know it’s cheesy but nevertheless true. In 5 weeks I’m heading to the Kansas City Comic Con – our first trip to Kansas!

It has been an incredible year. This time last year we had 2000 graphic novels stacked in my living room. At 224 pages each, that’s about a QUARTER MILLION pages of paper!

But thanks to you, we have fewer than 300 copies of Oh Hell Volume 1 remaining….And about that number of people told me I was crazy – I don’t dispute that –

Plans for the future? This summer I’ll be finishing up work on a fantasy novel. About 20 years ago I came across a book of Gypsy lore and curses. One that fascinated me was the admonition to crush empty eggshells “lest the witches use them as boats to steal children.” I combined that with something we did for our kids on their 13th birthday. Instead of putting one candle on their cake for every year of life, we lit one candle for every month of their 13 years – you can do the math (and just in case you can’t) that’s 156 candles! It made for quite the conflagration and I hope an interesting tale of adventure. I’ll be reading a short bit of it Sunday, July 24, at Vroman’s Bookstore in Pasadena at an IWOSC event. I’m not yet certain how I’ll publish it but just because you don’t know how to do something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go out and do it.

Also on deck. The script is written for Oh Hell Volume 2, Emergence. This fall I’ll also be launching a minimalist Kickstarter campaign to see if I can raise the funds to produce it. The Kickstarter campaign is not going to have a lot of bells and whistles, not a lot of high end rewards but if there is enough interest I hope to cover the production cost of the book. Emergence reveals much of Zipper’s backstory and of course we know that Alesse can’t be content until she has things her way.

Lastly, many of you know that Overground Comics has serialized Oh Hell into single issues and is distributing them through Diamond. So go to your local comic shop, yell “OH HELL” and see what happens. Also you can get single issues, printed or digital, directly from http://overgroundcomics.com/  And you can order printed copies of Oh Hell Volume 1 from our online store http://ohhellcomics.bigcartel.com/product/oh-hell-volume-1-chyrsalides

So until our paths cross again…

Be Well – George
